Orchid Blossoms bio je američki artist Martin Johnson Heade. The 140 year old piece of art measures the exact size: Uokvireno: 47,6 x 40 x 7 cm (18 3/4 x 15 3/4 x 2 3/4 in); Neuokvireno: 38,1 x 30,6 cm (15 x 12 1/16 inča). Ulje na platnu was used by the American artist as the medium of the piece of art. The original artwork has the following text as inscrption: "signed lower right: M.J. Heade / 1873". Martin Johnson Heade was a painter, traveller, whose artistic style can be classified as Realism. The American artist lived for 85 years, born in the year 1819 in Lumberville, Bucks county, Pennsylvania, United States and died in the year 1904 in Saint Augustine, Saint Johns county, Florida, United States.

In 1863 Heade took the first of three trips to South America, with an amateur naturalist, the Reverend C. J. Fletcher, to do studies for a projected (though never published) book on hummingbirds. As an outgrowth of that experience, Heade made a large number of paintings of birds and flowers, especially orchids, in a tropical setting. In this way he combined his main interests of still life and landscape--a union of themes he maintained in his work into the 20th century. The paintings are characterized by meticulous and precise rendering of detail and high-keyed luminescent color.
