Henri de Lorraine, 3rd Duke of Guise, called "Scarface" French prince from a younger branch of the House of Lorraine, held an important place at court as "Grand Master" and "peer of France" . At the head of a powerful aristocratic clan, he became popular during the wars of religion as a defender of the Catholic faith. Became head of the "Holy Union" (1584), he aspired to govern France.
