This more than 360 year-old artpiece titled The Coin Collector was made by the master Hendrik G. Pot in 1655. The original was made with the following dimensions: 18 x 15-7 / 8 in. Oil on panel was used by the European painter as the technique for the work of art. Gallery label: Pot is best known as a painter of small-scale genre scenes and portraits, usually of single figures seated at a table. His later works, including this one, are influenced by Rembrandt's treatment of light and his characterization of human subjects. The elderly man in this portrait is consulting a book that shows the coinage of different mints. He is either a coin collector or a money changer.
